What is an IT asset buyback?

An IT asset buyback is when an ITAD provider or reseller pays a business for its retired IT equipment, either as a quoted price up front or as a share of resale proceeds. The provider then sanitizes, refurbishes and resells the equipment.

IT asset buyback

Why it matters for IT and security teams

A buyback turns surplus equipment into cash that can help fund a hardware refresh, instead of paying to store or recycle it.

How it works

  • Share an inventory list with models, configurations and condition.
  • Receive a quote.
  • Equipment is picked up and audited on receipt.
  • Data is sanitized and documented.
  • Payment follows, adjusted if the received condition differs from the list.
