What is NAID AAA certification?

NAID AAA Certification is a data destruction certification administered by i-SIGMA. It verifies that a provider’s destruction processes, chain of custody, employee screening and other security protocols meet the program’s specifications, checked through both scheduled and unannounced audits. Certification applies to specific facilities and services.

NAID AAA certification

Why it matters for IT and security teams

Unannounced audits check how a provider operates on an ordinary day. i-SIGMA positions the certification as support for compliance with data protection laws such as FACTA, HIPAA and PCI.

NAID AAA certification

How it works

  • Auditors check operations against the program’s specifications in both scheduled and unannounced audits.
  • Endorsements define the scope, such as on-site (mobile) or facility-based destruction and media types like paper and hard drives.
  • Employee background screening is required and independently verified.
