The ‘vITAD’ Concept

HOBI-vITAD

First introduced at the 2022 E-Scrap conference, value-added IT asset disposition or vITAD is a term coined by HOBI’s co-founder and president, Craig Boswell. According to Boswell, the vITAD concept augments the traditional ITAD model with ERP integration, portal customization for asset tracking, asset redeployment, re-imaging, and ESG reporting.

As technology evolves and clients become more educated on the value proposition presented by ITAD providers, clients’ needs become more sophisticated and include requirements such as legal hold monitoring and mobile asset reprovisioning. The role of vITAD is to provide these value-added services in addition to the traditional ITAD service offerings.

Traditionally, the core services of IT asset disposition have included logistics, data sanitization, certification, onsite services, and more, but the ITAD landscape is changing. The vITAD concept expands core ITAD services to meet the new industry standards.

For example, experiencing a pandemic changed the business world and created a new industry requirement: support for remote workers. As a result, many businesses went fully remote, and ITAD enterprises had to adjust business strategies to accommodate the new norm. To support remote workers, HOBI offers a remote box program that provides a solution to the continued challenges of updates and equipment refresh initiatives via safe strategies for the safe and quick collection, evaluation, and redeployment of equipment on behalf of our clients.

Another new industry standard is ESG reporting. Though not a new concept, ESG reporting has grown in popularity and is now something many businesses look for before partnering with an ITAD provider. ESG represents a company’s environmental, social, and governance policies and provides transparency and accountability within the workplace.

The goal of vITAD is to evolve with our clients and provide them with the best IT asset management and mobile disposition services through every industry change.
