Partnership Creates Recycled Titanium Supply Chain

Sustainability goals are becoming more common in the business world as companies become more environmentally conscious and try to reduce their carbon footprint. Two companies in the waste and recycling industry have partnered to create a low-carbon 100 percent recycled titanium supply chain that will close the loop chain by recycling more titanium metal.

IperionX Limited and Aperam Recycling recently executed an agreement to create a fully circular titanium supply chain through Aperam’s American entity ELG Utica Alloys. Currently, titanium metal is sourced over long distances from high-carbon supply chains with traceability issues. Recycling more titanium metal will help ensure a more affordable and sustainable domestic manufacturing sector, reduce costs, lower carbon emissions, unlock new sources of titanium materials, and close the supply chain loop while mitigating supply chain shortages.

IperionX CEO Anastasios Arima said, “We are pleased to partner with ELG to advance a more sustainable 100% recycled U.S. titanium supply chain. This agreement with ELG provides the potential to unlock a secure, long-term supply of scrap titanium feedstock to create value for our customers with a lower cost, low-carbon, titanium supply chain for advanced American manufacturing.”

According to Waste 360, the agreement includes using scrap titanium feedstocks from manufacturing waste and end-of-life titanium metal products to re-shore advanced low-carbon titanium metal production and create a more sustainable, 100 percent recycled U.S. titanium supply chain.

In the ITAD industry, circularity is the concept of eliminating waste via recycling. IT asset disposition enterprises like HOBI close the loop on a circular economy by providing end-of-use care and disposition for retired IT assets. Recycling retired IT assets provides an eco-friendly alternative to landfills and incineration, and HOBI’s repair and remarketing services help provide a cost-effective alternative to purchasing new devices.
