Below is a recap of this week’s blog posts including problem solving with vITAD services like remote management, an overview of the Apple WWDC23 keynote, a survey showing how data concerns may be responsible for decreasing recycling rates, and mobile processing in the ITAD space.
Problem Solving with vITAD: Support Remote Workers with Remote Management
Support for remote workers is a value-added service that became a necessity during the pandemic and remains beneficial to many companies. Working from home is the preferred method for many employees, but doing business in the ITAD industry can be difficult when the majority of companies have a remote workforce.
Apple announced several new products and features during the WWDC 2023 Keynote, including one highly anticipated product that will be available next year. Below is an overview of the announcements.
Survey Shows Data Security Concerns are Affecting Recycling Rates
Producer responsibility organization WEEE Ireland recently conducted a survey and found that data security concerns are holding back recycling rates for scrap electronics and small appliances. According to the nonprofit organization’s survey, 21 percent of adults aren’t recycling their unused devices due to concerns about their personal data, and another 22 percent keep them as backups.
Mobile Processing in the ITAD Space
IT asset disposition facilities process hundreds of thousands of devices annually, including televisions, laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, tablets, and even small household appliances. Processing typically includes data erasure, but processing mobile devices differs from other devices. Mobile device processing is much more complex and unique than processing other devices due to factors such as the operating system, the erasure solution, broken devices, and battery handling.
