HOBI-blog recap

Below is a recap of this week’s blog posts including a new survey showing Americans’ apprehension about EV battery destruction, why repair advocates are requesting rules for manufacturers, how ESG reporting should include data security elements, and a year in review recap of HOBI’s most informative blog posts for 2023.

New Survey Shows Americans Apprehension About EV Battery Destruction

As electric vehicles continue to make their way into the market and grow in size, Americans are uneasy about the end of life of lithium-ion batteries, even though the EV battery recycling industry is prospering. A study commissioned by Ascend Elements, a battery materials company, discovered that 70 percent of U.S. adults need to be more specific about the disposal of used EV batteries, which was only 54 percent just last year.

Repair Advocates Request Rules for Manufacturers

Last month, repair advocates drafted a proposal requesting that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) craft rules to prohibit manufacturers from restricting the repair of their products. The request came as a 49-page petition to the FTC on Nov. 14 outlining the argument for better federal repair protection.

ESG Reporting Should Include Data Security Elements

According to an article written by Deliogroup, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) policies and reporting a company’s impact on ESG appear to be competitive differentiators. Companies lacking ESG reports are at a disadvantage because stakeholders, investors, consumers, suppliers, and even employees despise operating with businesses and companies without ESG policies. An enterprise with an efficient ESG strategy can benefit from the positive effect on a company’s financial performance, reputation, and risk management.
