Among the changes that have taken hold in the ITAD industry, ESG reporting is one of the most prominent as a new industry standard, and many companies are seeking out other organizations that offer ESG reporting. Some remain on the fence about ESG, but it provides many enterprise benefits, including environmental accountability, community involvement, and more. 

UK Waste Industry Supports Ban on Disposable Vapes 

The amount of electronic waste in the world has grown tremendously in recent years and is due in large part to disposable products like e-cigarettes and vape pens. Vape pens first hit the U.S. in 2007 but rose to popularity in 2014 and have since been the most commonly used tobacco product among youths in the U.S. Due to the amount of e-waste they generate, the U.K. government plans to ban disposable vapes, and the waste industry is in full support. 

Seattle Announces Battery Disposal Ban

Starting Jan. 1, 2024, Seattle banned batteries from garbage and recycling bins. Seattle residents will no longer be allowed to throw batteries in garbage cans or recycling bins to prevent potential chemical fires.
