This week’s employee spotlight shines on the first face visitors see when they arrive at HOBI, a kind-hearted homebody with a creative side and a knack for baking.
Behind HOBI’s front desk sits Vanessa Garcia, a quiet woman with a warm smile who wears multiple hats in administration on the HOBI team. Though she sits at the front desk, Vanessa’s responsibilities extend far beyond the standard roles of logistics team member, HR assistant, accounting support, and lobby manager. In addition to managing incoming calls and checking in visitors, she also handles all BOL filing, codes team transactions, clears revenue accounts, schedules client pick-ups, and completes daily reports for shipment tracking.
Vanessa joined the HOBI team five months ago and has quickly become an asset. From day to day, her schedule is filled with client communication, asset tracking, HR assignments, and accounting support, all while ensuring visitors are signed in and assisted. Prior to HOBI, her role working with children as a Registered Behavior Therapist (RBT) provided her with the necessary patience and skills required for juggling multiple positions.
As a Dallas native, Vanessa’s heart and soul have always been in the Lone Star State, where she lives with her boyfriend and their pride and joy: four furry felines. Though she lives in the bustling city of Dallas, she prefers to be home, unwinding with a good movie with a furry feline curled in her lap.
Balancing multiple roles can be mentally taxing, and after a long day, Vanessa often likes to unwind by using her hands to craft, whether it’s fitting puzzle pieces together or building mini clay sculptures. Recently, she discovered a love for baking and enjoys spending hours spattered with flour to create the perfect sweet treat. She channels her creativity into nails as an in-home nail technician and enjoys singing.
Aside from the occasional grocery run, Vanessa can very rarely be found outside the comfort of her own home. When not at HOBI, she might be spotted perfecting a pie crust, hunched over a new nail design, or nap-trapped on the couch with a cuddly fur-child.
