Meet Mahlet Dozier — a world traveler turned urban explorer, whose journey from the rugged fields of Texas farm life to the vibrant streets of Dallas is as dynamic as her personality. With a deep love for city living and a soft spot for tiny felines, Mahlet brings both heart and adventure to everything she does.
Originally from Ethiopia, Mahlet and her family moved to the U.S. in late 2007, where they became immersed in all things agricultural. Growing up on a farm, raising animals, and participating in livestock events throughout childhood provided her with fond memories and a strong work ethic, which aided her on the path to HOBI. Working in sales consulting for a currency exchange company, as well as helping a friend manage their local coffee shop, provided her with extensive experience in customer service. It equipped her with the necessary people skills for her role as Client Relations Coordinator on the HOBI team.
Client relations requires a similar skillset to working with livestock—a lot of patience, and just enough stubbornness to get the job done. For three years, Mahlet has served on the HOBI team as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring their needs are met, every i is dotted, and every t is crossed. From inquiries concerning service status to facilitating communication between internal teams and clients, she ensures that all client-specific requirements are documented and fulfilled. Additionally, Mahlet maintains detailed records for audit trails and ensures timely delivery of key reports, including asset and settlement reports—a process which often leaves her buried in email chains.
After a long day of keeping the peace, Mahlet enjoys all things new and exciting. Whether it’s in the gym, traveling, or exploring new hangouts, she enjoys making the most of her free time. Being raised on a farm instilled in her a desire to stay active, and though she is grateful for the childhood memories, she feels much more at home in the fast-paced city environment. While Mahlet typically fills her spare time with friends and adventures, she also appreciates the serenity of a cozy night in binge-watching a favorite show. However, peace and quiet have been more elusive since the recent addition of a tiny maniacal feline.
After rescuing what she initially thought was a baby squirrel from the busy parking lot of her apartment, Mahlet spent several weeks searching for a potential owner before deciding that its fur-ever home was with her. As one of six children, Mahlet is no stranger to chaos, but has since discovered that life with a new kitten is equal parts exciting and challenging. Affectionately referred to as Manny, the little rascal has quickly acclimated to life indoors and made himself right at home, keeping Mahlet on her toes 24/7.
When not at HOBI, Mahlet can be found soaking up some rays at the beach—if she can find a decent one—spending time with friends, or trying to wrangle Manny the Maniac.
