Preparing IT assets for safe shipping requires proper procedures and materials. ITAD and reverse logistics companies provide this service, but in some instances, clients take on the burden of preparing equipment for shipping, HOBI’s logistics team offers these guidelines to its clients for packing, loading, and storing equipment.

PCs and Towers

When packing PCs, place the PC on a skid with the barcodes facing out. Place pieces of cardboard in between the layers and the corners. After the cardboard is in place and the products are fully protected, wrap the container with clear polywrap and list the number of pieces inside the container. Then wrap the container in black polywrap and place a Do Not Stack symbol or sticker on the skid.use

Laptops

Be sure bubble wrap or some cushion is in between the laptops and in between the equipment and container. Don’t forget to add partially finished styrofoam to all sides of the container.

Printers

Stack printers on an inspected pallet with cardboard on the bottom and layered in between the devices. Ensure the exterior of the printers are wrapped with cardboard and clear polywrap. Lastly, remember to include the order information, such as the barcodes and piece count, and the Do Not Stack label.

Monitors

Stack monitors screen-to-end or end-to-screen while placing cardboard between each layer. Wrap monitors with clear polywrap and ensure the final wrap is cardboard to protect the edges.

LCDs

LCDs must be individually wrapped with bubble wrap or other forms of cushion. Insert cardboard and cushioned layers between each device. Remember to package the LCDs vertically.

Server Components

Like the above, protect all surfaces with bubble wrap or foam.

Miscellaneous Items

Wrap hard drives and circuit boards individually in anti-static bubble wrap.
