HOBI Weekly Blog Recap (6/6-9/22)
Yahoo’s new mail app utilizes a new type of app security. Instead of requiring users to enter their password, the mobile app is now using an “account key.”
An account key will use push notifications to provide access to the app. Users will have the option to choose an account key, then when trying to access the mail app on their mobile device, they will receive a message and press a checkmark to gain access.
The new mail app will also allow users to access multiple accounts from many providers. It will be interesting to see what security precautions Yahoo undergoes for this relatively unfamiliar access protocol and if other mobile app developers follow a similar path.
