Time Warner Cable reported what may be the first major data breach of 2016 yesterday. TWC issued a statement warning customers that as many as 320,000 records may have been compromised in a data breach.

Time Warner officials indicated that usernames, passwords, emails and email account passwords were compromised by malware. The FBI notified the company of the potentially compromised information earlier this week.

Although data security will continue to evolve throughout 2016, enterprises everywhere are encouraged to stay on their toes and watch out for potentially malicious attacks. Time Warner may be the first reported data breach of 2016, but there likely will be more to come.
