A new survey from Creative Strategies indicates users are most concerned about data privacy and security when using a smartphone device. The survey interviewed 800 U.S. consumers about the importance of data security and privacy when using different devices and services.
According to the firm’s findings, 60 percent of interviewees indicated security matters the most to them when using a smartphone. A little more than 30 percent of interviewees answered security matters the most to them when using a PC, and less than 10 percent indicated they are most concerned about security when using a tablet.
As for services, the majority of interviewees (40 percent) were most concerned about data security and privacy when using cloud services. Email services followed close behind with 35 percent of interviewees.
Creative Strategies 2/23/27The interviewees’ priorities are not surprising, given the majority of consumers are using smartphones as a primary computing device. As users process more sensitive data using mobile devices, the need for higher quality mobile data security increases. Overall, this survey indicates 2017 will be the year of mobile security.
