A study conducted by Edgenuity indicates a substantial amount of schools around the country are struggling with successful classroom technology integration. This survey interviewed teachers of various grade levels around the country about their opinions about educational technology.
Of the participants, 91 percent agreed with the statement, “Technology provides a greater ability for teachers to tailor lessons and homework assignments to the individual needs of each student.”
While the vast majority of interviewees agreed classroom technology expands teaching opportunities and supplementary materials, only 16 percent gave their respective schools an “A” for technology integration, and 48 percent reported feeling their school’s classroom technology is outdated.
Educational technology expands both educators’ and students’ options inside and outside the classroom. While there are many positive effects of using tablets and other supplementary devices in education, school districts and universities may struggle with implementation, maintenance or staying up-to-date with classroom technology trends.
One way to navigate these issues is to work with a certified IT asset manager. An ITAM provider can work with districts to choose appropriate devices for their needs, implement new technology in the classroom, manage any repairs and eventually refurbish or recycle devices at the end of their use.
