Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 fiasco resulted in the recall of 2.5 million smartphones, and many Samsung users forfeiting their devices. While the recall was an inconvenience for Galaxy Note 7 users, Samsung is now offering a discount on their newest device for customers who purchased a Galaxy Note 7 last year.
Samsung is offering a $425 discount on their new Galaxy Note 8 devices for past Galaxy Note 7 owners. To qualify for the discount, users will need to provide the email used when returning their Galaxy Note 7 device during the recall, and also send in an old device.
The page that explains the redemption process says users are eligible for a trade-in valued up to $425 when they provide an email address and return their current phone. Samsung does not clarify any device eligibility standards, but says the company will “determine the value.”
Past Galaxy Note 7 users who take advantage of this offer will also receive free expedited shipping so they receive the new device quickly. If a user qualifies for the full discount, the device’s price could drop from $960 to $535.
