HOBI International, Inc., a leader in electronic asset management and electronics recycling since 1992, with corporate offices located in Batavia, IL and Dallas, TX became the first Illinois recycling organization to receive the R2 Certification.
The R2 Certification was developed through a multi-stakeholder process and facilitated by the EPA as a catalyst in accreditation for electronic recycling. Responsible Recycling Practices or (R2) is the new standard supported by the EPA, major computer OEM’s, the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), state/local governments and the Electronic Recyclers’ Industry Association (ISRI).
R2 sets forth a stringent set of requirements for the electronic recycling environment regarding workers health, safety and security practices. R2 also solidifies general principles and specific practices for recycling organizations disassembling or reclaiming used electronic equipment.
Cathy Hill, co-founder and CEO of HOBI International, Inc. explains, “HOBI has been a part of the R2 developmental process since it’s inception. It is very rewarding to know that the standard is a reflection of the best in class service providers in the industry. R2 has made HOBI a better company and establishes the strong level of ethics HOBI has always abided by in our industry.”
