The traditional role of IT asset disposition covers services such as logistics, data sanitization, certification, and onsite services, but the role of ITAD is changing. The shifting landscape now includes value-added services and several additional industry facets, including support for remote workers, R2v3 certification, data privacy, and ESG reporting. Something many haven’t considered is that meeting ESG criteria can be achieved through R2v3 compliance.
R2v3 is an enhanced edition of the R2 certification andt was released in July 2020. The update spans ten different areas and includes many new requirements for R2 facilities, such as tighter security measures for data security, more detailed descriptions of services, and process requirements.
ESG governance criteria focus on the amount of transparency and accuracy a company presents in accounting and reporting methods, as well as audits, leadership, executive pay, and shareholder rights.
Wthinin ITAD, governance criteria are achieved through compliance, audits, and transparency. In addition, the IT asset disposition process includes handling large amounts of data and expensive IT hardware, which requires compliance, and many certifications to ensure assets are handled appropriately.
Practicing R2v3 compliance helps achieve the governance criteria of ESG reporting and provides more transparency and accountability for shareholders. As an R2v3, RIOS, and ISO-14001 certified enterprise, HOBI prioritizes compliance with government legislation throughout all of our programs. Each of our locations undergoes yearly audits for recertification and maintaining the highest standards by only partnering with R2-certified downstream vendors who are thoroughly audited each year for compliance standards.
