Illinois officials are considering an amendment to the state’s current e-scrap legislation that would lead to higher manufacturer recycling goals and protections for local governments.
The 3 changes
1. Double current manufacturer recycling requirement from 50 to 100 percent of what each company sells in the state
2. Legislation would stiffen penalty against OEMs failing to reach that 100 percent goal
3. Legislation aims to ensure recycling firms and collectors don’t charge municipalities for collecting or taking material unless they offer specialized services (home pick-up)
HOBI International has recycling and asset management facilities in Batavia, Illinois, Dallas, and Phoenix. Each location is R2/RIOS certified.
