As 2021 comes to an end, and 2022 begins, HOBI would like to kick off the new year with positive, eco-friendly resolutions for your old electronics. HOBI is a certified R2, RIOS and ISO 14001 enterprise, and we care about your IT assets, or rather, where they go once you’ve retired them. Electronic waste is more dangerous than your typical waste, and it’s extremely important to properly dispose of electronics in order to mitigate environmental damage and potential health issues of those residing near landfills and incineration facilities.
Here are some green resolutions to practice for e-waste disposal in 2022 that will mitigate the amount of raw materials needed for manufacturing new devices, and help reduce the amount of e-waste generated each year:
- After the holidays many people look to upgrade their electronics. If this is the case for you, consider passing your old electronics on to someone else if there is still usable life left in them.
- When purchasing a piece of electronic equipment as a gift, or even for yourself, consider purchasing lightly used items as an alternative to brand new devices.
- If selling old electronics, we encourage you to research different trade-in programs through third party vendors. This way, you’re providing an alternative to a new device for someone else, and also earning money for your used device.
- Many tech companies have begun expanding repair options for their devices thanks to the growing Right to Repair movement. If you have a damaged device, work with third party repair shops in order to fix the device instead of purchasing a new one.
HOBI International Inc. offers a range of services from data security and erasure, to reverse logistics. We also offer repair and refurbishment options for all mobile devices and tablets. HOBI focuses on taking the best course of action, not only for our clients, but for the environment. For more information about our ITAD services call 817-814-2620, or contact HOBI at sales@hobi.com.
