HOBI weekly blog recap

Below is a recap of this week’s blog posts including a Washington EPR program that allows the use of R2-certified companies, how to improve risk management with ESG reporting, a recap of the ISRI 2023 conference, and tips for data security.

Washington EPR Program Allows the Use of R2 Certified Companies

In late 2021, the Council of the District of Columbia passed a law allowing only eStewards-certified facilities to be used in the eCYCLE Program. This law prevented the use of R2-certified companies and limited opportunities for companies that were not e-Stewards-certified. However, circumstances have recently changed.

Improve Risk Management with ESG Reporting

The business world can be grueling in any industry, and no matter how well business managers plan, there’s always the potential for things to go wrong. Risk management is becoming more necessary as clients and stakeholders demand more transparency in business operations. ESG reporting is one of the additional services ITAD providers offer and can be used to improve risk management.

ISRI 2023 Recap

The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) annual convention and exposition was held last month in Nashville, Tenn., at the Music City Center, where more than 70 speakers shared their knowledge and expertise on various industry subjects. Among the speakers was HOBI’s president and co-founder, Craig Boswell, who spoke on two panels discussing the rapid growth of battery technology and how measuring quality, safety, and environmental performance goes beyond meeting a standards requirement.

Tips for Data Security

As technology evolves and becomes more complex, so does cybercrime. Cyber attacks have become one of the fastest-growing crimes in the world, and if you do not have a security protocol in place, your company could be vulnerable to a security breach. It is our responsibility to remain vigilant and protect ourselves and others. Here are some tips to help safeguard and secure your data from cyberattacks.
