Below is a recap of this week’s blog posts including the fire safety briefing held by ISRI and SWANA, bridging the digital divide via device remarketing, security and compliance in data center services and ESG for ITAD.
ISRI & SWANA Hold Fire Safety Briefing
Battery fires have plagued the ITAD industry for years, namely Lithium-Ion batteries. Device processing can be rigorous, and when LIBs are damaged, they can potentially cause chemical fires. The need for battery safety is increasing. Last week ISRI and the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) hosted a briefing with the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on safely handling, transporting, and recycling lithium-ion batteries.
Bridging the Digital Divide via Device Remarketing
The rise of technology, combined with skyrocketing prices, has created a digital divide between those with access to the necessary technology and those without, especially now that remote work and school have continued in some areas. Remarketing old devices helps provide an alternative to buying new devices and provides technology to those without access.
Look for Security and Compliance in Data Center Services
Data centers are a crucial part of any enterprise due to the amount of data they store. Data centers store not only enterprise information, but private employee data as well. For this reason, data security is critical in keeping your data safe and preventing any breaches.
The business world has seen many changes during the last decade, many of which have altered business strategies and traditional industry norms. For example, the pandemic created a heavy dependence on digital communications and a great need for remote support, creating a new set of standards for business industries, including IT asset disposition.
