Provided is a weekly snapshot of the recent ITAM and battery related news that HOBI’s blog reported during the week 12/30-1/04.
With a new year under way, it’s time we take a look at what experts believe will be the focus of the information technology industry for the next twelve months. According to the International Association of IT Asset Managers (IAITAM), last year the focus was on data leaks and hacking incidents – which were at an all time high. For 2019, IAITAM believes that the following three distinctly unique challenges will take center stage: the rise of contract management for IT Asset Managers, the continued importance of cybersecurity and the key relationship between ITAM and ITSM.
Technology to help batteries fail safely
When it comes to lithium-ion batteries, there is a possibility of a thermal event occurring. From overcharging to an accidental puncture or an internal short, there are various factors that could potentially set off these temperamental devices. That’s why California-based battery technology company, Aminox has created a way for these Li-Ion batteries to fail in a safe manner. Their new technology, SafeCore, makes it less likely that a battery will explode or catch fire due to thermal runaway. However, one industry expert says that while the intention is backed by good intentions, “it [will] be a minor contributor to battery safety.”
