The theme of this years Earth Day was ‘Green Cities‘ and HOBI International was the ring leader! The HOBI team took to the streets and successfully amped up the community about electronics recycling!
HOBI’s electronics recycling events held around the Dallas-Fort Worth area attracted people of all ages excited to get rid of some old electronics safety and securely.
Future Earth Days are predicted to be more focused on electronics recycling. Here’s why:
Did you know e-waste represents 2% of America’s trash in landfills, but an astonishing 70% of overall toxic waste?
It’s not all bad though! There’s a goldmine hidden within the electronics sitting in your junk drawer. If recycled by a certified ITAD vendor, a mere one pound of electronics contains more gold than a pound of gold ore. Get this! Just by recycling one million laptops the energy saved is equivalent to the electricity used by 3,657 U.S. homes in a year.
Celebrate the Earth everyday! Take advantage of electronics recycling events year-round and educate your community of the positive affects that come from responsible recycling.
The future is bright. And its cities are green.
In an effort to promote the need to be green, a survey was sent out to get an idea of how environmentally friendly people consider themselves.
What’s Your ‘Green?’
1. Army Green (I find ways to be green at work every day and demand that my co-workers do as well)
2. Forest Green (I recycle paper only since there is a recycling bin next to my desk)
3. Emerald Green (I do something green once a day)
4. Olive Green (I do something green once a week)
5. Sage Green (I do something green once a month)
6. Dusty Green (I can’t remember the last time I did something green at work)
Emerald Green was the most popular choice at 26 percent.
Earth Day continues to evolve each year and it’s a positive sign that electronics recycling is now included as part of that progress. It’s hopeful that within the next few years, responsible e-waste management and disposal will be such a natural part of the environmental picture that there will be even more reason to celebrate.
