Dallas Business Journal released their annual list of the largest north Texas women-owned businesses this week. HOBI International, Inc. ranked third overall, a three-spot increase from 2016’s ranking of sixth place.
HOBI has been a Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) for more than 20 years, and continues to support fellow women-owned businesses by attending WBENC conferences and workshops. Cathy Hill, HOBI co-founder and CEO, spoke about the importance of decision making when building a company, because each decision impacts the big picture.
“Decisions are made on the fly, as well as the product of long and careful analysis,” Hill said. “Both must be framed within the context of integrity and the best overall alignment with corporate strengths, mission and client satisfaction.”
Hill also spoke about the importance of communication in an organization, and how valuing employees builds a foundation for success. Her advice to new leaders is to “invest in communication and benefit from creativity.”
“Everyone has something to offer, or you would not have hired them,” Hill said. “See them beyond their job, and they will see them beyond your office.”
