HOBI would like to wish you and your loved ones a happy Thanksgiving. With a holiday like Thanksgiving, it’s easy to go overboard on the festivities. But remember, Thanksgiving is and should be about giving thanks and being grateful for our loved ones and for all that we have. With that said, what better way to give thanks and appreciate and safeguard the environment than to be eco-friendly this Thanksgiving? Here are a few tips to have a sustainable and environmental holiday season.
Recycle: Be sure to have a trash container for both recycling and composting. Look for the recycling symbol on all your plastic packaging and ensure what goes to which recycling facility. Recycle everything that’s recyclable, such as aluminum, cardboard, plastic, and glass.
Save energy: Believe it or not different baking dishes have an impact on your energy use. Glass and ceramic dishes maintain heat better than metal, so by using glass and ceramic dishes you’re able to reduce the temperature by a certain amount of degrees. You can also save energy by using a pan that covers the entire stove and by keeping the pan covered. Use ambient LED lights and be sure to turn off the TV if no one is watching it.
Conserve water: Wash dishes in the dishwasher rather than by hand. In order to use less water and save energy, be sure to fill up the dishwasher and run the cycle on the shortest cycle. After the last cycle, open the door and air-dry the dishes.
Travel together: In order to reduce the number of cars on the road and minimize the amount of carbon emissions, it’s suggested to carpool.
Use natural decorations: To decorate your home, use things like colorful leaves, pumpkins, acorns, and pines. Afterward, all these can be returned to nature.
