Earlier today, Blackberry confirmed plans of focusing on software development. In order to streamline these efforts, Blackberry will no longer manufacture cellphones in-house, instead opting to outsource manufacturing to partners.

Blackberry announced the new developments in their second-quarter earnings report. CEO John Chen indicated the company’s $352 million revenue will be a strong foundation for the new direction of Blackberry.

“We are reaching an inflection point with our strategy,” said Chen. “Our financial foundation is strong, and our pivot to software is taking hold.”
