An update to Apple’s environmental Q and A on their website indicates iPhones have a typical lifespan of three years. While this estimate is not the definitive cut-off, Apple retrieved this data from monitoring devices and their respective lifespans.
The three-year lifespan may not come as a surprise to some, with Apple’s frequent OS updates that may not always be compatible with older devices. This estimated lifespan may conflict with the growing customer base that wishes to hold on to their devices longer than the typical upgrade cycle.
Aside from the iPhone, the Apple Watch has an estimated lifespan of three years, while OSX and Apple TV devices are expected to live four years. To read the entire amount of estimates, visit here.
