Apple held their fall keynote yesterday to announce several new products and model updates including the long awaited iPhone 14, as well as a brand new Apple Watch. Below is part 1 of a summary of all the announcements.
Apple Watch Series 8 & Apple Watch SE
Apple’s Watch Series 8 comes with new health features including a new temperature sensor that helps track temperature shifts at night, and cycle tracking technology for women’s health. Watch OS 9 includes a new feature, Crash Detection, that senses when the user has been in a car accident and automatically alerts emergency authorities if the user does not respond. Low Power mode provides 36 hours of battery life, and Apple Watch now includes International Roaming for users who have the cellular model. Apple Watch Series 8 is swim and dust proof, crack resistant and comes in new colors and watch bands.
The second generation of Apple Watch SE includes all of the core features of Apple Watch at a lower price. Watch SE comes in new colors, includes a new redesigned back casing, crash detection and is now 20% faster than the original.
Apple Watch Ultra
Apple has developed a brand new Apple Watch series specifically designed for extreme outdoor sports and activities. Built to withstand abnormal temperatures and weather conditions in every element, Apple Watch Ultra also includes new safety features designed to help users get help no matter where they are such as Backtrack, Waypoint, Wayfinder, and Emergency SOS via Satellite which allows the user to contact emergency services while in areas where cellular service and wifi are unavailable. Watch Ultra also includes a new depth gauge for divers, and a siren that helps alert others when you need help. With a brand new design, Apple Watch Ultra includes up to 60 hours of battery life, and comes in 3 new watch bands specifically designed for rigorous outdoor conditions.
AirPods Pro
AirPods Pro now operate with the new H2 chip and include updates to spacial audio with personalized spacial audio, and 2X more noise cancellation. The second generation of AirPod Pros also include a new extra small eartip, adaptive transparency, and new touch control sensors that allow users to control the volume with swipe control. AirPods Pro now have up to 6 hours of listening time on a single charge, and 30 hours with a single case charge. The new model also includes a speaker on the bottom of the case that will alert users when the AirPod case battery is low, or when it is lost.
