Amazon Inc. has developed a $50 tablet in what seems to be an effort to increase tablet sales this holiday season.
The new tablet will have a 6-inch screen and be one of the least expensive options on the market at half the price of Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet. As well as the 6-inch screen, Amazon will release 8-inch and 10-inch options at different price points.
As tablet sales slow, manufacturers are addressing the market in new ways to increase sales. It will be interesting to see how Amazon’s cheaper tablet performs in the market this holiday season and if other tablet providers will follow suit.
