It’s a true fear of mine that my smartphone battery will die in the middle of night, leaving me with no abrupt ‘wake-up’ alarm and totally disconnected from the world.
Mobility just got a little bit easier as tips and tricks are released for smartphone battery conservation.
Here are 3 tips to extend smartphone battery life
1. Start with the screen
The screen is the biggest energy succubus on your phone. Go into ‘Settings’ and find ‘Brightness’ control. When lowered to below 50 percent, you’ll notice it doesn’t affect the appearance of the screen, but this simple trick will drastically improve your battery life.
2. Excuse me Wi-Fi, what’s your Wi-Fi password?
This one is simple. When using your device at a restaurant or friend’s house, ask for their Wi-Fi password. If you are not in a place that offers Wi-Fi or you are not using Bluetooth, turn those features off via ‘Setting.’ These functions can be an extreme power drainer when active.
3. The completely unnecessary location arrow
iPhone users know this symbol all too well.
Multiple apps use the GPS function to determine your location. This is completely and totally unnecessary. Dedicate a few minutes to go through your apps and turn off the GPS function on all except for the ones on which it serves a purpose (ie. Maps, Weather).
It may not lift the weight of the world off your shoulders, but a longer smartphone battery life leaves you with one less worry.
