Apparently e-waste isn’t all bad! Organizations around the nation are coming together to support a federal e-waste bill that could create more than $1 billion in payroll for 42,000 new jobs for the U.S. economy.

The purpose of the federal e-waste bill is to reintroduce and reform the current bans set forth in the Responsible Electronics Recycling Act (RERA) for exporting certain kinds of electronics to developing nations. If accepted by Congress, the new restrictions enforced by the e-waste bill are predicted to create 42,000 direct and indirect electronics recycling jobs throughout the U.S., according to a study conducted by the Coalition for American Electronics Recycling (CAER).

For electronics recycling organizations that are certified as Responsible Recyclers, this e-waste bill will not be a burden. Responsible Recyclers, like HOBI International Inc, follow the required R2 standards for proper electronics recycling within the U.S.
